1.          The organizers said suicide became one of Taiwan's top ten causes of death(十大死亡原因) last year, and the incidence of parents who kill their children before taking their own lives is widespread(普遍的) in Taiwan.

2.          Russian police officers are being given etiquette lessons(禮儀課程) following complaints about their rude behaviour(粗魯的行為). The classes, organized by local government in the far eastern region of Primorje, aim to improve the officers' manners and help them appear more cultured(比較有教養的).

4.          For centuries, historians have portrayed Mozart(莫扎特) as poor, but new documents suggest the composer was not nearly a hard-up for cash(缺錢用的人) as many have believed.

5.         A top Iranian military official said Tuesday the country can now defend itself against any invasion originating from outside the region--a clear reference to the United State--as it tested a second new radar-avoiding missile.

6.          The United States and China are close to reaching an agreement that could eventually see the repatriation of 39,000 illegal Chinese immigrants, the U.S homeland security chief(國土安全部部長) said here Tuesday.

7.          The Judicial Reform Foundation(司法改革基金會) yesterday called for Cheng Chung-mo(城仲模), a grand justice(大法官) and concurrently vice president of the Judicial Yuan(兼司法院副院長), to quit both jobs for his allegedly going April 2 to a motel(汽車旅館) in suburban Taipei with a woman surnamed Wang, 30 years younger, and staying there for 70 minutes.

8.          Iran said Wednesday it has successfully test-fired a "top secret" missile, the third in a week, state-run television reported. The report said the missile could be fired from all military helicopters and jet fighters.

9.          Passengers on a jet returning to Britain were told they could not land because an air traffic controller was having a tea break. The jet was forced to circle(盤旋) the airport, finally landing 25 minutes late, reports the Daily Mirror(英國每日鏡報).

10.      April is National Poetry Month(詩月) in the United States. The Academy of American Poets started the special celebration ten years ago.  National Poetry Month brings together publishers, booksellers, poetry groups, libraries, schools and poets around the country.  They celebrate poetry and its important place in American culture.
