1.          Bird flu expert(禽流感專家) Dr. Margaret Chan(陳馮富珍) won the nomination(提名) Wednesday to become the world's top health official(Director general of the World Health Organization.), a position that would make her the first Chinese national to hold a top U.N. post. 3.          Democrats appear to have won the final seat needed to take control of the US Senate(掌控參議院), the Associated Press(美聯社) reports.  AP declared Democrat Jim Webb victor in Virginia by 7,236 votes over Republican incumbent(現任的) George Allen.
